    Markets

Esperance has two markets, and they take turns: one weekend it's the Growers Market on Saturday morning, the next it's the Sunday Markets at The Market Village.

    Esperance Growers Market

On Saturday mornings, every second weekend, the Esperance Growers Market fills the Scout Hall with fresh produce: fruit and veg, meat, eggs, honey, extra virgin olive oil, jams and preserves. Chat with the growers, fill your basket, and connect with the people who produce the food in your hand. You'll also find local bakers, spice blends, flowers, and arts and crafts, with stalls changing from market to market.

    • When: fortnightly on Saturdays, 9am to 11am

    • Where: Esperance Scout Hall

Sunday Markets at The Market Village

Every second Sunday, the Sunday Markets bring the hustle and bustle of community markets to The Market Village. Stallholders fill the Village Green with an eclectic mix of wares to delight and surprise: scrunchies and sweet treats, tie-dyed clothes, handmade earrings and chilli jam. Grab a bite from Bistro Louis or a market vendor, and find a locally crafted treasure to remember your adventures by.

    • When: fortnightly on Sundays, 8.30am to 12.30pm

    • Where: the Village Green at The Market Village, near the Esperance Visitor Centre

    The Market Village

In the centre of Esperance, The Market Village is a collection of small historic buildings, relocated from around the district to the site of the old railway marshalling yards. Today they're home to independent shops, studios and makers, and the Esperance Visitor Centre, making it an easy place to wander, browse and shop local. Time your visit with coffee and brunch at Bistro Louis.

Browse the Village's shops, galleries and creative studios:

    • Esperance Visitor Centre: gifts and crafts by local artists, alongside classic Esperance souvenirs.
    • ESP of Esperance Shoes and Gifts: shoes and boots from brands including Birkenstock, Django & Juliette, EOS, Alfie & Evie, Cabello and Rollie, plus Italian-made womenswear, leather handbags, and an eclectic mix of gifts, souvenirs and garden pieces.
    • Naturally Esperance: a locally owned health and wellbeing store with natural cleaning products, health foods, oils and giftware, much of it from local artists and small businesses.
    • Art Galley: a tiny gallery and workroom in the historic Old Hospital building, with changing exhibitions by Western Australian artists.
    • David Ashley Photography: local photographer Dave Ashley's Chasing The Light Gallery, with framed works, aluminium prints and gifts.
    • La Breeze Esperance: a small collective shop of Esperance artists, including Picturesque by Elodie. Elodie designs and prints her own clothing from her photography, with ranges for kids, teens and adults, plus accessories and souvenirs.
    • Esperance Community Arts: a workshop and exhibition space, with a gift shop showcasing local artists and community groups.
    • Just One More Stitch: a sewing studio to pick up your next project.
    • Ms Mustard Knits: a knitting studio filled with hand-dyed yarn and knitting supplies, with beginner workshops from time to time.
    • Village Mother and Baby: a family-run shop owned by local midwife Skye, with products for pregnancy, babies, kids and parents.

    Made in Esperance

Beyond The Market Village, Esperance's retail scene is built on local makers and one-of-a-kind pieces.

Its galleries and studios are the places to find something made right here: glass art at Cindy Poole Glass Gallery, fish leather at Mermaid Leather, Aboriginal art from the Gallery and Gift Shop at Mudjar Aboriginal Corporation, and work by local artists at the Cannery Shop. See Art and Galleries for more on each.

Take a taste of Esperance home

Some of the best souvenirs come in a bottle or a jar. Look for these at the markets, the cellar doors and shops around Esperance:

    • Gin and whisky from Esperance Distillery Co, including its 2026 Champion Whisky
    • Craft beer from Lucky Bay Brewing, brewed with local barley
    • Wine from Condingup Vineyard, Western Australia's most easterly winery
    • Honey from local beekeepers, including Esperance Honey and Eco Valley Honey
    • Olive oil and pickled olives from Patroni Olives
    • Chilli sauce from Hellfire Bay Sauce

Meet the people behind them on the Producers page.

    Community and sharing culture

Remoteness has taught Esperance to make it, grow it and share it. Some of Esperance's community gatherings are about swapping rather than buying:

    • Thred Up: special events held by Floss and Wood throughout the year for the resale of secondhand clothing.
    • Grow and Gather: brings people together each month at the Cannery Arts Centre to share what they've grown.
    • The Makers Festival: held a couple of times a year, it's a swap rather than a market, with produce and products exchanged rather than sold.

It's all part of Elemental by Esperance, celebrating the producers, artists, retailers and community who make this place what it is.
